Net Entertainment was created as a joint venture between Modern Times Group MTG AB, Cherryföretagen AB and Pontus Lindwall during 1996-1997. Net Entertainment is now a fully owned subsidiary to Cherryföretagen AB. Kinnevik (a company within the same sphere as MTG) is the main owner of Cherryföretagen with 30% of the shares. Both Kinnevik and Cherryföretagen are listed on the Stockholm Stock Exchange. Net Entertainment released its first casino on the Internet late 1999 with a commercial launch in 2000. During 2001 Net Entertainment launched two more casinos, based on the second generation of casino software platform developed by Net Entertainment. Net Entertainment develops and operates through a subsidiary in Costa Rica several Internet casinos.
